Thanks to the generosity of our three participating game stores (L’Échelle du monde, le Monde du jeu and Multizone) we will have a room with free access this year! In this room there will be a dozen table where you (with your family or friends) can try games presented by store staff, games publishers and our friends from Games Summit, Filosofia, Le Scorpion Masque, and Kynox Editions. You can purchase on site many of the games offered by these stores. This free access area allows you to drop into the convention without registration fees, check out games, find items on sales and maybe find ideas for the coming holiday season! IMPORTANT: Note that this activity will only be held from 9am to 9pm on Saturday.

This year, Pascal has devised a Meta Game that will encourage you to play games with new people (without forcing you to do so) over the course of the weekend. In this way, even if you come to the convention by yourself, you will be asked to play games by various people. Each game you play will give you and other players Meta Game points. Prices will be awarded to those who have accumulated the most points. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet new people. All further details will be provided at the convention.

Filosofia organizes a grand Dominion Tournament; This tournament will travel to all major game convention in Quebec. The winner of the tournament held at Ludo, will win a game given by Filosofia, and will become qualified to attend the semi-finals held at the Fiesta Ludiq game convention in Montreal in 2010.
The tournament uses an eliminatory format: only winners of a round move up to the next round (except for the first round, where maybe the first two will continue). Based on the number of participants (maximum of 64), the tournament will have 2 or 3 rounds.
Important: You have to register in advance (as you register to the convention). Filosofia will be conducting this tournament with French versions of the game.
Can't wait for the convention to play games? Neither can we. The solution: five online tournaments. This year our friend Martin has organized five tournaments to celebrate the 5th year of the convention. Online games will be played starting September 28th, 2009 until the convention. The finals for these tournaments will be held at the actual convention. Participants must register before Septembere 28th. See the Ludo 2009 Tournament page to register and for more information.
A forum on the Dragons Nocturnes website was created to:
* Provide a means for participants to make special requests (which games they would like to play)
* Provide a means for participants to indicate which games they intend to bring to the convention.
* Help participants discuss about hot new games.
We would like this forum to help us in planning, identifying and obtaining games that are in high demand.
A forum on the Dragons Nocturnes website was created to:
* Assist participants organize carpools.
* Facilitate gamers from outside of the region finding participants from the region who would be willing
to provide them with accomodation.
Thanks to Mike for taking care of this.
The heart of Ludo-Outaouais convention is open gaming. At any time during the convention, participants can borrow games from the Ludo library. There will be Gaming Gurus circulating at the convention who will be at your disposal to help explain games. The Ludo Library is a collection of games that participants have voluntarily loaned. If you wish to share your games, please consult the Volunteer Section of the main page.
The triathlon is a trademark activity of the convention. Participants will be asked to play a series of three games, each one testing different gaming skills: games based on auction, dexterity, investment, majority, knowledge, betting or who knows what? The choices are only limited by the imagination of the great Marc, and short on imagination he is not! Note that it is hard to prepare for this event as you will only learn which three games will be selected only at the event. Don't worry, Marc will select (and expertly explain) three simple games. Prizes will be awarded to the finalists. Consider this flabbergasting testimonial about the event:
"I am flabbergasted." The Horrible Dr.B
A daycare service will be available Saturday only, for childen from 5 to 11 years of age. The service will cost 5$ per child for a predefined period of 3 hours: the predefined periods are 9:00-noon, 1:00-4:00pm, and 5:00-8:00pm.
Meals are not provided by the convention, however refreshments and snacks (fruit, veggies, sweets, etc) will be available during the event. Slush Puppy will be back again this year. You can vote for your favourite flavour by contacting Romain at the following website: http://www.dragonsnocturnes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=7907. The Community Centre has a cantine which offers healthy options such as wraps and salads. There are also some restaurants located in the vicinity (vietnamese, libanese). You can also bring your own food.
The Ludor prize is designed to encourage game creators. Finalists in the Games Creator Competition, will be presenting their game prototypes at the convention. You will have the opportunity to play these new games before they are even published. Give the designers and the jury your feedback to help us bestow the people's choice award. Consult the Ludor 2009 section of the website for more information.
Want to make space for your new games? Come sell your old games at our used game bazaar. You will need a list of games you wish to sell and most importantly, to label your games with your name and the price you want. Give your list to the Bazaar attendant and place your games on the designated table. Then you will be free to forget about them for the weekend, as the attendant will collect the money as your games are sold, and return it to you as you leave the convention. Please note that games that are still in their original plastic wrap cannot be sold at the used games bazaar.
Event and door prizes will be awarded during the convention.
