Ludo is a large gathering for board game enthusiasts. The goal of the event is to give participants opportunities to meet other gamers, share favorite games, discover new releases, take part at special activities, and have tons of fun. Ludo-Outaouais is one of five major game convention in Quebec. The gathering attracts people from various regions.
The convention proceeds as following: volunteers lend some of their games during the length of the convention (see the Volunteer section below if you wish to share your games). All these games are added to the games belonging to the Ludo-Outaouais Board Game Club, which create a huge library of hundred of games. A participant can borrow any of these games at any moment during the convention. Being surrounded by hundred of other gamers, it is easy to find others to play with, and not too hard to find someone who already know the rules. If no one in your group knows the rule, don't worry, volunteers are there to explain rules and help get games started. In few minutes you will be ready to start playing with other game enthusiasts. This concept is called "open gaming". In addition, there will be other activities such as the famous triathlon, the Games Creator Contest and its prize (the "Ludor"), game tournaments and an optional meta game which encourages you to play with different people throughout the weekend. At heart, this weeekend is about as much gaming as you can handle.
The convention will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 21st and 22nd, 2009 at the Tétrault Community Center in Mousette Park (361 rue de Lucerne, Hull).
