Ludo-Outaouais 2010 Online Tournaments

In The Year Of The Dragon Santiago Stone Age Tigris And Euphrates

Once again this year, Ludo-Outaouais is hosting tournaments; the qualifying rounds will take place online and the finals will be held during the Ludo-Outaouais weekend in November. The winner will receive a game prize from one of our sponsors or from Ludo Outaouais. This procedure will ensure that participants will not have to play in multiple qualifying rounds over the weekend.

Essentially, your participation in the qualifying rounds means that you intend to come to Ludo-Outaouais for the finals. Do not let this keep you from participating if you’re not sure of attending the weekend, however, because we will keep a list of substitutes in the event that a qualified player would be prevented from playing in the finals.

The online qualifying rounds will be played one turn at a time instead of in real time, except in very rare cases. We would like you to log on to the site once daily to check if it’s your turn to play. Your game turn will only take a few minutes of your time. The qualifying rounds consist of around 10 simultaneous games. Once you check the site regularly and become accustomed to it, the quicker each of your visits will be. One game should take about 20 to 30 days to complete.

How do I register?

1) The first step is to create an account on the website where the qualifying rounds will take place (see instructions below).

2) The second step consist of sending an email to Martin Prégent, who is in charge of the online tournaments, and specifying in which tournament you wish to register (you may register in a single tournament, several tournaments, or even all of them if you wish), your first and last names and your handle (nickname) for each tournament. tournoi.ludo-outaouais@hotmail.com

3) Lastly, to make it easier to communicate with the other participants, we encourage you to register online on the Dragons nocturnes forum, where a discussion thread will be created for each tournament. http://www.dragonsnocturnes.org/

Rules of the event

Qualifying phases: Four (4) participants per tournament will be qualified to participate in the finals of each game. Participants commit to play approximately ten qualifying games during this period. These games will determine the four (4) finalists who will face off at Ludo-Outaouais by selecting those who will have accumulated the most points according to the ranking system. Should any of the four (4) finalists miss the finals at Ludo Outaouais, the next highest-ranking participant will be selected as the new finalist.

Ranking system: The ranking of a game is established once the game is over. Each participant receives points according to his position at the end of the game: 4 points for first place, 3 points for second place, 2 points for third place and 1 point for last place. In case of a tie, the points are added, and then divided amongst the number of tied players.

The sum of the points awarded for each game will determine the final ranking of the participants in the tournament. In case of a tie, priority will be given to the participant with the most first place wins. If there is still a tie, priority will be given to the participant with the most second places, etc. If there is still a tie, priority will be given to the player with the most points in each game played.

Finals: The finals will take place during Ludo-Outaouais 2010, and will be held at different times to allow players to participate in every tournament should they wish to do so. These finals will be attended by all of the participants who qualified in the previous phase. At the end of this tournament, the best participant in each tournament will win a prize offered by our sponsors and their name will be posted on the honour roll of our Website. Winners commit to the following:
* to be photographed and/or interviewed;
* to accept that their interviews and pictures be posted on our Website as well as on any other Ludo-Outaouais publicity support.
No objections or claims may be raised regarding the prizes nor may the prizes be exchanged, transferred or converted in any way.

Ludo-Outaouais reserves the right to modify or change the conditions or the dates of the tournament at any time; it is each participant’s responsibility to check regularly for changes or updates.
